An Operating System is the software that communicates with the hardware of a computer and functions as the intermediary between apps and the hardware, including peripherals such as a printer, a mouse or a keyboard. When you run an app, it sends requests to the OS using an API (Application Program Interface) and the interaction is done through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). A lot like a personal computer, web servers also have an Operating System that acts as a host for the software installed on them, which includes script apps or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, etc. A virtual machine can be set up on a physical one, so you can install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment compared to the physical server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Web Hosting

We provide as many as three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our virtual private servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the most stable and reliable OSs out there and we supply all 3 instead of only 1 because we realize that you might want to install some software that has specific requirements with regards to the Operating System it shall run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a large support community behind it and there are different software programs you can install on the server. Your OS selection will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS in case you want to use one and that's why we offer several Control Panels as well. Should you decide that you want another OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the current one and install the one that you need. In addition, we offer an optional service to maintain the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers Hosting

In case you decide to obtain one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the registration page as we want to give you a broader choice regarding the system environment on your machine as different applications can have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian contain different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and take advantage of a reliable and secure web hosting service. Depending on your choice, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always replace the Operating System if the one you've selected initially doesn't meet the requirements of the software which you intend to run. We can also update your OS regularly to keep it as risk-free as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
